Welcome to the Kingfisher class webpage! My name is Miss Tibbott and I am the Kingfisher class teacher. I am excited to be going into my second year teaching at Hannah More and am looking forward to teaching in Year 3. Working alongside me will be Vicki, the Year 3 LSA. She will support across both Year 3 classrooms in the morning and work with different groups of children in the afternoon.
If you need to speak to me about anything then please come and find me on the playground, either in the morning or after school. If you would prefer a longer meeting then please speak to me, or phone the office, to arrange a time for this.
Every Tuesday morning the children will be taught by Mr Wells. On a Wednesday afternoon the children will be taught by Miss Stevens (our fantastic sports coach) and Mr Wells whilst I am out of class for planning time.
Important Information about Kingfishers
Children need to bring their book bag to school every day, even if they haven't finished the book, as they may be asked to read with an adult. Children will be able to change their books frequently in school using our electronic lending system. This helps us track who has books at home and who is reading regularly.
It is vitally important that children continue to read at home to an adult each day. When reading with your child, please question them about what they have just read to really make sure that they have understood what the book is about.
P.E will be taught by Miss Stevens on a Wednesday afternoon. Children should come to school in their uniform with their P.E kit in a bag for later. Children are now expected to wear their house colours for P.E. House t-shirts can be bought from the office.
Swimming lessons for Kingfishers will start in term 4. More information will be available about this closer to the time.
Children will recieve maths, literacy and spelling homework each week. Homework is sent out on a Thursday and should be handed in on a Monday. There is a homework club every Thursday after school. As the children are now in year 3, they are able to stay for this on their own. Parents should collect their children at 4.15pm.
This terms topic will be 'Prehistoric Britain'. We will be learning about what Britain was like during this time. At the end of the term we will show off our learning at the schools museum!
Make sure you keep an eye on our class blog for regular updates throughout the year!
