How we teach Geography

Geography helps stimulate an interest and a sense of wonder about different places. Pupils develop their knowledge to understand the physical, social and economic forces which shape those places and the lifestyles of the people who live there. At Hannah More we were awarded a Bronze quality mark for Geography in September 2017.

The children learn to use maps to locate cities, countries, mountain ranges, rivers, seas and oceans. They use atlases, photos and the internet to explore the environment and economics of those countries which they study. It helps young people learn about the changing world. It builds on pupils’ own experiences and creates an important link between the natural and social sciences.

As pupils study geography, they encounter different societies and cultures. Please look at your child’s class page/ class blog to find out what they are learning about each term!
