Hello Reception children and parents!

This week there is a change of day for Ladybird phonecalls for the children not attending school. Open the blog to find out more.

When your child is not at school or if you have chosen not to send your child to school just yet then please complete the learning that we have set below.

Weekly phone calls

We will be calling all of the children who have decided to stay at home rather then come to school.

This week Ladybird phonecalls will be on  Tuesday between 11am and 4 pm. 

Caterpillar phone calls will continue to be on Wednesday between 11am and 4pm

Phonics

The phonics home learning is now your pack of activities. This will have either been posted to you or be ready to collect from the school office if you needed any resources. You should have received a text if you need to collect your pack. If not, your pack should arrive soon. If you do not receive it by Wednesday, please call or email school. PE

 

Literacy

 In school we have read the story of the hungry caterpillar.  Watch the video.

 

Talk to your adult about what happens in the story:

What happened to the Caterpillar?

Which foods did he eat?

What happens to the caterpillar at the end?

 

Activity:

Can you draw a picture or paint a picture of the butterfly?

In school we have been practising writing lists. Write a list of all of the colours that you have used to draw/paint your caterpillar. Use your sound mat to help you spell the words.

Today we are practising taking away. Also called subtraction.

Look at the 6 pictures and ask your child the questions written. Work with your child to find the answer.  They can use a numberline or their fingers to help them.

Home Learning Day 2

 

Literacy

 

In class we have been thinking about different insects. At home go out on a nature walk. What animals and insects can you see?

When you get back home, make a list of the animals and insects that you saw. You could draw a picture of each insect/ animal and then use your sound mat to help you write the name of each insect/animal.

 

Maths

Today we are continuing to practise taking away.

Literacy

The hungry caterpillar loves to eat a delicious, big lunch. What is your favourite food?

Activity:

Draw a picture of your favourite food. Use your sound mat to help you label each food item.

Challenge:

Write a sentence explaining your favourite food.
