Black History Week 2019

18 October 2019

In Year 3 we have spent the week learning about the Civil Rights Movement in America and Martin Luther King Jr.  Our enquiry question has been 'How can ordinary people help to change lives?'

We started the week by looking at some photos that showed how black and white people in America used to be segregated.  We discussed our views and feelings towards these photos and couldn't believe how unfair it used to be.

We then learnt about Martin Luther King and how he played an important role in making changes for America.  We learnt about his life and created a timeline by ordering ten different events.  We finished off the week by creating our own dreams for the world and reading them out to the class in a group.
