Year 6 Week 5 Follow Up

24 June 2020

Hello again, Year 6! It's Week 5 now.
Remember, the last day for Year 6 is now 10th July. We will be having a re-union party of Group A and Group B on that day too! More information soon to come!

Here's your learning for this week:

  • Children in Group A should do this work on Wednesday 1st, Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd July
  • Children in Group B should do this work on Monday th, Tuesday th and Wednesday 8th July.

At the bottom of the page is work to do if you haven't come to school since we re-opened.

Message from John!

Dear Year 6

I hope you and your families have all kept well during these uncertain times we find ourselves in.

Due to the pandemic, I regret that I will not be returning to Hannah More before you all leave next month, so I wanted to send you a final message.

Firstly, I want to wish each one of you all the best at Secondary School in September. Embrace the change, remember what you have been taught and I have no doubts you will all be the stars I know you are.

Secondly, many thanks to Miss Skinner and Mr Cook for enabling me to share a part of your Year 6 journey. I never cease to be amazed by their hard work and dedication to seeing you all achieve to the best of your abilities.

Finally, a huge thank you to all of you. Unfortunately, Coronavirus took away a number of months during which I had planned to work with you. However what Coronavirus can never take away is the great memories and fondness I have for the times we did share.

You were a great year group to work with and you provided me with another memorable year at Hannah More.

All that remains is for me to wish each one of you all the best for the future and from me it's over and out.

John

Even though we haven't done English in school this week (because we've been busy filming our Leavers' Video!), we'd still like you to do some at home.

Here's the link to  the video for The Arrival Book

Day 1

Plan a letter from dad to his family using something like this planning sheet. (This has been given to children who have come in).

Day 2

Using yesterday's plan that you did, today we want you to write your letter in full. Remember to use lots of emotive language - you were great at this in class!

Day 3

Now write out your letter again in neat onto a separate piece of paper. This needs to be a square before you write. You are then going to make this into an origami bird, similar to the ones in The Arrival.

Follow these instructions to make your bird.

If you haven't attended school since it re-opened, here is the work you should do:

Maths:

English: Do the BBC Bitesize lessons for the week
