Year 6 at Exmouth Day 3

04 October 2017

Water sports and beach cricket!

Day 3 started slightly unusually... by waking up in the dining hall! In the night, storm Aileen came over camp causing us to move to the dining hall! We were all back to sleep within minutes and woke up peacefully to the smell of another delicious breakfast from the camp. Denny had a surprise when he woke up because he had a slug on his back! We then tidied our tents and had our tent inspection before getting our wetsuits on for water sports. After a lot of stretching and wiggling, we were in!

We walked down to the beach and started our water sports session with an obstacle course, over and under kayaks, on to a surfboard before running into the sea and catching waves! Then we had a sand art competition which was won by Ali, Shania and Karima. Next, it was time to hit the surf where we body boarded and wallowed in the waves for a couple of hours with huge smiles on our faces!

Afterwards, we were a tiny bit cold so we hot-footed it up to camp where we loved having our warm showers and some tea and lunch to thaw out. In the afternoon, we enjoyed some free time where we played hide and seek, dodgeball and football!

Before dinner, we went down to the beach as the sun was shining and played a great game of cricket. We had a few extra players when we were joined by some dogs, who seemed to want to field for us!

When we got back, we had a lovely dinner of pizza, wedges and coleslaw and the stickiest chocolate fudge cake we had ever eaten, with whipped cream on top AND chocolate sprinkles! After dinner, the rain started again unfortunately so we went up to the hall and taught each other the card games that we had learnt the night before. We got teeth cleaned and then went into our tents for an early night. It was the quickest Mr Schoner and Katherine had ever seen children go to sleep, ready for our last full day at ‘The World of Country life’ tomorrow.
